Ultimate Wrestling Alliance :: Pro Wrestling Australia

The Ultimate Wrestling Alliance was formed in Sydney in mid 2002 by a conglomerate of elite Australian wrestlers and former IWA and AWF President, Ed Lock. On 7 September 2002, the UWA invaded Victoria's PCW at their largest event, Carnage, making its presence felt in a BIG way and leaving many victims in its trail. Over the next few months, the UWA made a name for itself by showcasing its talent in PCW, AWE and on the Australian Wrestling Supershow.

It was on Andy Raymond's Supershow 1 in late 2002 that the first UWA Title Holder was crowned. The "Hardcore Superstar", John "Mr Big Time" Howarth, became the UWA Hardcore Champion in an event that was telecast on the prestigious FoxSports network. Other Hardcore Champions to follow were Don "The Dragon" Slayde, "Iron Man" Terry Rymer, Jass, Dementor and Bishop Sommers.

Saturday 15 February 2003 was the night on which the UWA promoted its first official event. In front of a packed crowd at the St Marys Band Club, the promotion's first Tag Team Champions were crowned in a one night, knockout tournament. Crude, the team of Troy the Boy and TJ Haze, were victorious and still to this day hold the record for the title's longest reign. Other tandems to hold the UWA Tag Team Title were Striker and Maverick, Devlin De Skyes and Salem, Redrum, Justin Cross and Ryan Eagles, Will Phoenix and Bishop Sommers, Dean Draven and Matt Wolf and Mike Vandal and Matt Wolf. The current UWA Tag Team Champions are The Captain and Luke Hunter.

On 10 May 2003 Devlin De Skyes defeated Scarecrow in the finals of a tournament to decide the first UWA Ultimate Champion in St Marys. Other wrestlers to have won the promotion's crown jewel are Scarecrow, Lobo, TJ Haze, Jass and Will Pheonix. The current UWA Ultimate Champion is Salem.

The UWA Hardcore Title was retired by President Ed Lock, who introduced the UWA Elite Title in 2005. The final UWA Hardcore Champ, Bishop Sommers defeated the then Australian Cruiserweight Title Holder, Mason Childs, to win the inaugural UWA Elite Championship on 30 January 2005 at Seven Hills-Toongabbie RSL. This belt has also been held by Johnny Dundas, Scarecrow, Troy the Boy, Scotty Dozer, Tyson Gibbs and CRSM. The reigning UWA Elite Champion is Devlin de Skyes.

The UWA ring has never been short of variety, having seen its fair share of technical masterpieces to hardcore brawls, women's matches and much more. In its biggest show of the year, the UWA showcases the annual Hallowikkid Double Rumble. This massive match features around 40 wrestlers in two "Royal Rumble" style matches that take place simultaneously in side by side wrestling rings. The electrifying event continues until there is only one wrestler left in each ring; the two survivors then battle it out to declare the ultimate winner. Double Rumble victors to date have been Maverick, Hillbilly Bob, Bishop Sommers and TJ Haze.

Throughout its existence, the Ultimate Wrestling Alliance has ventured throughout NSW, from the 'burbs to the beaches, and even further. The UWA has graced venues in St Marys, Woonona, Seven Hills, Merrylands, Bronte, Bathurst, Penrith, Mount Pritchard, Regents Park, Dapto and Bega with Batemans Bay scheduled next.
